SpaceX reported its second set of public results this week and made its Super Intelligence segment the largest by revenue, while Tesla trimmed full-year capital spending guidance and JPMorgan Asset Management included Bitcoin in its long-term capital market assumptions for the first time. Spot Bitcoin ETF flows swung sharply across the same days.

SpaceX Super Intelligence revenue exceeds Starlink in Q3

SpaceX posted third-quarter revenue of approximately $14.58 billion, up 161% year over year, with net income of $4.4 billion. The Super Intelligence segment (AI compute and related) generated $7.56 billion, more than Connectivity/Starlink at $5.25 billion and Space at $1.77 billion. Starlink consumer subscribers reached 13.6 million, adding 1.6 million in the quarter. Nameplate compute capacity stood at 1.7 GW. Capital expenditure for the quarter was $19.6 billion, the bulk directed at AI infrastructure. On the call, Elon Musk described a potential combination with Tesla as a “good idea” and said both companies had formed special committees of independent directors to discuss it.

Why it matters: For anyone tracking listed AI infrastructure and Tesla/SpaceX-adjacent names, this is the first clean public print showing SpaceX’s compute rental business larger than its satellite broadband franchise. It quantifies the speed of the AI capacity buildout and puts a hard number on the scale of spending required to keep expanding it. The special-committee formation is a concrete governance step, not a completed deal.

Caveat: Quarter-to-quarter AI revenue can be lumpy as capacity comes online; the merger discussion is exploratory and subject to shareholder and regulatory hurdles.

Tesla Q3 revenue flat, free cash flow positive, 2026 capex guidance cut

Source: Tesla Q3 2026 results and earnings call, 21 Oct 2026 (CNBC, Reuters, company materials)

Tesla reported revenue of $28.05 billion, essentially flat year over year. Adjusted EPS was $0.48. Automotive revenue declined while the company posted free cash flow of $1.53 billion against expectations of a multi-billion-dollar cash burn. Quarterly capital expenditure was $4.73 billion. Full-year 2026 capital expenditure guidance was lowered to roughly $20 billion from the prior “more than $25 billion.” Management noted spending directed toward Optimus production lines, AI compute, Cybercab, and related projects. Musk reiterated that he had nothing further to add on the SpaceX discussion beyond the prior day’s comments.

Why it matters: The positive free cash flow and reduced near-term spending guidance change the cash-flow map for a company that had been expected to invest heavily. It shows how Tesla is sequencing capital deployment across vehicles, energy, robotics, and compute while the broader AI infrastructure board continues to absorb large outlays. The numbers are from the primary print, not a projection.

Caveat: Positive free cash flow included working-capital benefits; the capex reduction is a timing and efficiency adjustment, not an abandonment of longer-term AI and robotics investment.

JPMorgan Asset Management issues first long-term Bitcoin return forecast

Source: J.P. Morgan Asset Management Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions 2027, released ~19–20 Oct 2026 (The Block, Bloomberg via secondary reports)

In its 31st annual LTCMA report, JPMorgan Asset Management included Bitcoin for the first time. The base-case compound annual return is 10% over the next decade, above the firm’s 7.5% assumption for U.S. large-cap equities and 5.5% for gold. Assumed volatility is 55%. The report states that Bitcoin remains premature as a diversifier in balanced portfolios because of high volatility and unstable correlations, and it is not incorporated into the firm’s main covariance matrices.

Why it matters: This is a primary institutional assumption set used by pensions and endowments. Placing a numerical long-term return on Bitcoin, even with the explicit caveat on portfolio suitability, changes the reference frame for allocators who track BTC/ETH structure alongside listed AI and infrastructure names. It is a model input, not a recommendation.

Caveat: The 10% figure is a base-case modeling assumption starting from a late-September price level; it is not a price target and the firm explicitly declines to treat Bitcoin as a portfolio diversifier today.

Spot Bitcoin ETF flows swing from large inflow to outflows

Source: SoSoValue / Farside Investors daily prints, 19–23 Oct 2026

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net inflow of roughly $527 million on 19 October, the largest single day since late September, driven almost entirely by BlackRock’s IBIT at approximately $665 million. Subsequent sessions showed mixed results, including a large net outflow of about $636 million on 22 October. Cumulative net inflows since the January 2024 launch remain near $57 billion, with total net assets around $105 billion.

Why it matters: The week’s flow data show that institutional access via the spot ETFs continues to produce large, concentrated daily moves concentrated in IBIT. For readers following BTC/ETH structure as one board with listed AI names, the prints quantify the current scale of creation/redemption activity and the concentration among issuers.

Caveat: Daily flows can reverse quickly and do not by themselves indicate sustained accumulation or distribution; ether products saw separate outflow pressure in the same window.
